UNL School of Natural Resources: alumni and friends trip to...Namibia!
Learn more about our planned trip to Namibia in May/June of 2026!
Why travel to Namibia with us?
-
Our trip has a focus on wildlife conservation and unique landscapes.
-
Your hosts, Kelly and Larkin Powell, have lived in Namibia and led multiple student trips for the University of Nebraska.
-
Namibia, in southern Africa, is a safe country with a lot of wildlife and amazing landscapes and experiences for you!
-
You will witness multiple models of conservation from NGOs like AfriCat and Cheetah Conservation Fund to National Parks and private nature reserves.
-
We also visit communal conservancy areas to see how indigenous Namibians live and depend on wildlife resources. You won't find a better way to see all of this variety.
Kelly and Larkin Powell are wildlife biologists in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska. We lived in Namibia during 2009 during a Fulbright Scholar experience, and Larkin taught at the Polytechnic of Namibia in the Nature Conservation Department. Kelly volunteered with orphanages and a preschool. Our experience in Namibia includes research on ecotourism and wildlife. We bring our experience and a large slate of friends and colleagues in Namibia to this course, and we hope you find Namibia to be as special as we do!
We encourage you to visit this site to view the US State Department travel recommendations for Namibia.
